It’s February and our colleagues at TeacherReady are gearing up for a new class of teachers and aspiring teachers! TeacherReady is an online alternative certification program for individuals interested in a career transition to the teaching profession. Research tells us that teachers are the most important factor influencing student learning; a challenge to all of us to make a difference.

Check out the experiences of aspiring teachers across alternative certification programs; here are a few examples – one military, one international, and one U.S. – from TeacherReady the University of West Florida’s educator preparation institute:
I am a 30 year retired AF troop who always planned to teach. Teacher Ready is helping me reach that goal. I just completed the program and I’m currently trying to pass my local state requirements so I can transfer the FL license here once I’m fully licensed in FL. The program is great and fits into the busy lives of military troops. The teachers are very helpful and flexible so be sure to give Teacher Ready a thorough look if you really want to teach.
TeacherReady is a great option for anyone looking to get their teaching certification while they are living/teaching abroad. The entire staff was very helpful in answering any questions I had. They were also very accommodating when special circumstances (such as cultural differences) arose at my school. Thanks for helping me build a successful classroom for my students! Heather, South Korea
I’m currently enrolled in the TeacherReady program and I have been hired to teach this fall! The program has given me the resources I need and I have found it to be exciting and stimulating. Nate, Private School Teacher in Florida
Check out alternative certification program options to see which one affords you the best option for meeting your needs; below is bit about TeacherReady.
The TeacherReady program is 9 months, state approved (FL), and is a member of the University of West Florida’s NCATE accredited Professional Education Unit. The curriculum is grounded in the work of Drs. Janet Pilcher and Robin Largue; they have been teachers and leaders in the education field for more than 30 years and their entire careers have been dedicated to improving school systems, its teachers and leaders, and student learning.
So, why consider teaching as a first or second career? Teachers bring experience and passion to the classroom to engage students, develop their sense of purpose for learning, and provide them an excellent education. Teachers are the most important factor that affect student learning… and great teachers are the ones who are making a difference in the lives of their students.
